Leadership

Named accountability, function by function.

Risk, compliance, operations and fund administration are each held by an identified individual. Responsibility is assigned, not distributed into a committee.

How The Functions Interact

Separation of duties is what makes the sequence hold.

Risk

Sets the standard an opportunity must meet

Risk defines what is examined and what constitutes an unacceptable structure. It can stop an opportunity at any stage. It does not market, and it does not close.

Compliance

Controls who may receive information

Compliance owns eligibility verification and the release of offering information. Nothing reaches a prospective investor who has not been verified, regardless of commercial appetite.

Execution

Acts only on satisfied conditions

Execution and funding proceed against a checklist of conditions rather than a judgement call. Funding instructions follow completion, never precede it.

Administration

Holds the record that proves it

Fund administration maintains the documentation and reporting record for the life of the position, so what was agreed remains verifiable after the fact.
